Physical Wellness Month

Physical wellness is taking care of your body by getting active and maintaining a good diet. For centuries, humans have prioritized physical health. Around 3000 and 1500 B.C., a natural form of medicine called Ayurveda was created in India. The word Ayurveda is made up of two Sanskrit words, ayur translating to “life” and veda which translates to “science or knowledge.” Indians demonstrated that you can stay healthy by utilizing natural herbs and plants to treat diseases and maintain overall health. Thousands of years later in the 20th century to current time, the entire world began to realize the value in prioritizing physical health. Eating nutritious meals suffice of healthy minerals, proteins, and vitamins, exercising regularly, and maintaining personal hygiene became a well known necessity. Now, April is recognized as Physical Wellness Month. Often participating in physical activity benefits you because it improves mental health by reducing symptoms of mental illness, manages weight, boosts immunity, and strengthens muscle and bones. Not only is it important to focus on your physical wellbeing this month, but every month of the year with a safe and balanced routine.
